Seicoat Canada to announce free graffiti removal program at TAGS 2009 Symposium ( Esquimalt, BC, October 21, 2009)September 15, 2009
A California-based chemical manufacturer, and its British Columbia franchisor, Seicoat Canada, an applications and service firm, is out to prove to the world that their environmentally safe anti-graffiti coatings are the true solutions to graffiti. To do this, Seicoat is offering free graffiti removals for up to 3 years in exchange for the purchase of their patented Graffiti Proofer® non-stick anti-graffiti coating. The official announcement will be made at the TAGS 2009 Anti-Graffiti Symposium, Esquimalt, BC, October 21-22, 2009 where Seicoat is the main sponsor.
Such a move by any municipality, building owner, highway department or any other entity plagued by "taggers"could immediately save them hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. Every city in the United States and Canada has a graffiti removal budget. Mid-size cities like Calgary, Alberta, Canada have a graffiti budget of approximately $700,000; larger cities like New York and LA have budgets well into the tens of millions of dollars.
Seicoat claims, and as demonstrated on a new You Tube video produced for Sky Trains light rail system in Vancouver BC, once the Graffiti Proofer® coating is applied, graffiti can be wiped off with a dry cloth or removed with a low pressure washing. The fact that paint, markers, stickers, etc., can be removed as fast as they are applied means that a municipality or company can eliminate a majority of their huge graffiti costs as long as the Graffiti Proofer Coating is applied first. An un-retouched video showing the Graffiti Proofer in action can be seen at www.youtube.com - search Seicoat.
According to Ross Sklar, President of Seicoat, speaking from his Los Angeles offices, "This free offer is our way of demonstrating just how effective our Graffiti Proofer really is. The bottom line is, by using the Graffiti Proofer Coating and accepting -

Specialty Coatings
Powering Up Paint
Today’s specialty coatings offer a new niche in a can. Tackling mold, graffiti, bugs, fire or creativity? It’s all here.
By Cynthia A. Challener In the beginning, paint offered a splash of color and a smidgen of protection. Fast-forward a few millennia, and technology has not only enriched color but has transformed coatings for every sector into multi-duty problem solvers. Today's specialty lineup does everything from fighting germs, fire and graffiti to saving energy. These multi-taskers tend to cost more than traditional paints, but they carry a range of long-term benefits-greater safety and savings in maintenance, repainting and remediation-that customers are demanding. "Consumers are very savvy when it comes to painting options these days,"says Ann Gearty, brand manager for Rust-Oleum specialty paints. "They are looking for more options beyond just colors. Contractors that can offer other choices will earn a good reputation." Resisting mold and mildew Mold and mildew can be costly, persistent problems, especially in areas that need frequent repainting. A growing army of kitchen, bath and exterior specialty paints has mobilized to stop these troublemakers. Most major paint companies offer some form of mold/mildew-proof interior paint and add mildewcides to their exterior products, too. (Generally, mildewcides fight a variety of fungi, including mold.) In Vancouver, Darren Stackhouse of Mid-Island Graffiti Removal has successfully turned to SEI Chemical's SMP-100 Mold Proofer interior/exterior paint. The product applies like any paint and can be tinted to any color. "We choose this product because we feel the antimicrobial active [ingredient] is more environmentally friendly than other available options," Stackhouse says. "It also does not leach from the paint, so is present for the life of the coating; as a contractor, that gives me peace of mind."Stackhouse also uses SEI's WPA-1000 Paint Proofer waterproofing additive, which can be mixed into any latex paint, to improve a coating's performance Other options for anti-mildew interiors include Behr Premium Plus Interior Sateen Kitchen and Bath Enamel, Benjamin Moore's Aura, Sherwin-Williams' Duration Home Interior Latex, and Valspar's Kitchen & Bath Semi-Gloss Enamel -
